Job Description:
We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Major Orthopaedic Scrub Nurses specialising in lower limb procedures to join our team. In this role, you will support surgical teams in delivering exceptional patient care during orthopaedic procedures. Shifts are available on a daily or multi-day basis, offering you the flexibility to work in various hospitals and adapt your schedule to suit your needs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert scrub assistance during major orthopaedic (lower limb) procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain the sterile field, ensuring all surgical instruments and equipment are ready for use.

  • Work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other theatre staff to deliver safe and efficient surgical care.

  • Monitor and maintain high standards of infection control throughout the procedure.

  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are accounted for and properly handled post-procedure.

  • Support the team in pre-operative and post-operative care as required.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records in line with professional standards.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) registration or HCPC registration (if applicable).

  • Proven experience as a scrub nurse in orthopaedic surgery with a focus on lower limb procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of theatre protocols, infection control, and surgical best practices.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Flexibility to work in different locations and adapt to various healthcare environments.

  • A proactive and reliable approach to delivering outstanding patient care.
